champagne!

Sometimes the occasion calls for Champagne, and why not?
If you’re inviting clients or guests to a Champagne tasting event, it usually results in a full turn-out.
We have several different options for champagne or sparkling wines depending on your budget and how much time is available. It may be you just want a one-hour reception/talk through before dinner, or you may want a full blown Champagne dinner.
Our venue is the unique Bacchanalia at Broken Wharf on the Thames by the Millennium Bridge.
A great opportunity to learn about Champagnes from a different angle, aimed at those who enjoy them, and want to learn more. No pretentious ‘winespeak’– we don’t lecture to you either. Just great wines, food and company and you go away having learnt a lot and enjoyed yourselves!
“The point is to show people that Champagne is not just a drink for birthdays and New Year, but a great choice on any day. There's a different Champagne style to suit every palate and Champagne is also an excellent food wine, something that people tend to forget. Trust me, there's nothing like a few glasses of Champagne after a hard day at the office! “ Chris Hambleton, Tutor.
If you would like to try us out, we run regular Saturday afternoon Champagne tastings open to the general public. 12 different Champagnes with buffet lunch for £125 per person. The afternoon begins at 2.30pm, buffet lunch is served at 3.30, where you get to match the wines with food, and the day ends at 5.30pm. You will be in the company of like-minded individuals – around 30 people, men and women aged between 25 and 60! It’s a fun and enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment – plus you learn all about the wines at the same time.
Dates available for remainder of 2011:
10 Sept; 15 October; 12 November

Saturday Sparklers
in our fizzy tasting will be Saturday Sparklers where we will show 12 different champagnes and sparkling wines - ‘sparklers’ - each Saturday, along with a new tasting menu devised by Harry to accompany the wines.
It will be a mixture of champagne and sparkling wines from countries such as UK, South America, Australia, as well as France, Germany, Italy and Spain of course!
Will you be able to tell the difference between sparkling wine and Champagne?
But this is more than a simple wine tasting – here you will see how the wines match with a great tasting menu included too. The idea is to get to experience all types of ‘fantastic fizzies’, compare them with Champagne examples, so you can see which is your favourite, but also experience how food harmonises with the wines to change your opinions.
Your host for each afternoon will be our expert Chris Hambleton.
“Everyone thinks they know sparkling wine – popular opinion is that it’s not as good as champagne – but don’t be fooled by the Champagne hype! There are plenty of great sparkling wines that get overlooked as they’re not officially from the Champagne region. It’s time they got the accolades they deserve – including the UK producers!”
Timing is 2.30 – 5.30pm. A great opportunity to entertain friends, family or just to enjoy yourself. Our venue is situated on the banks of the Thames overloooking Tate Modern, with fantastic views of the river.
